When we went to South Carolina in 2008, we ate Sonic 4 times in a week. We go for the experience, the roller skating car hops, the drive-in, the TATER TOTS, the fantastic drink combo's, and the desserts! The food at Sonic is fast food, just different from your everyday McD's, Burger King and Taco Bell. I personally like the popcorn chicken, tater tots and Sweet Tea. In fact the Tater Tots are so yummy, when I dropped one on the car floor the other day...I still ate it, I know, Erica was mortified, but hey! 3 second rule right?
So finally the summer of 2008, Sonic comes to Michigan. It starts with a South gate location, which is about half hour or forty five minutes from where I live. We went 2 weeks after it opened and waited in line...on a Wednesday night...for 40 minutes. It was worth the weight...I mean wait. Then came one in Flint, and then in Clinton township, and now there is one in Westland and also in TROY!!! Troy is close, Troy is fantastic...Troy means we can have Sonic 7 days a week! ok just kidding, its been open for a week now and we've only gone twice. The wait last week was crazy, but not too bad. It's definitely the place to be, and the its caused a buzz around town. Face book friends have pics of themselves at Sonic, the Dog at Sonic, status updates at Sonic...Everyone is smitten by the new kid in town.

Oh my family is dying to try it but it's been so darn busy! Especially Marissa and Joe. We will make it there but on an off day during the day or something! I wonder what's so great about the tater tots? LOL But I love your 3 second rule...ha ha ha and that you admitted it on a syndicated blog...bwahahahaha....I wouldn't have let my kids see me do it, but I'm sure I would have done it too! LOL
I have been dying for it, but since hubby has been brown bagging it to lunch I don't want to get him rehooked on fast food. However, if either one of you wants to go with me, give me a 24 hour notice and I'm friggin' there. Of course it opens right after I don't work near there anymore. So not fair ... I'm not driving 40 minutes just to eat by myself.
Haha, I'm dying with laughter over here because I grew up with Sonic (being a TX girl) and I'm not used to people making a fuss over it. But you're so right, the tater tots are good. When I was poor in college I used to go get the grilled cheese kids meal w/ tots and a cherry limeade because it was only 2 bucks and sooo good. The drinks and deserts are my favorite thing about it. Try a hot-fudge cake sundae next time you go, your thighs will not thank you but your tummy will. :)
