Our newest addition

Emma is here! wow what a weekend. Its been a crazy 4 days! Well it all kinda started Thursday afternoon when Erica came down with a fever. Our plan for Friday had to change, since she woke up with a 102 temp on Friday morning. The poor kid is NEVER sick and she ends up being sick and misses out on such an exciting day for her. She didn't get to see Emma until Saturday afternoon and didn't get to hold her until Sunday.

So anyways...Friday we went in for our scheduled C-section after dropping Erica off at Grandma's. The C-section was delayed a bit and I didn't get in until 2:30 instead if 1:30. It moved really quick though once we were in there. Justin stood up and watched Emma being pulled out of my belly. I'm so proud of him for not passing out! She was breech, just like her big sister. The Dr said, "yep you were right, she's a breech baby" (I told him 2 weeks ago trying to get another ultra sound:) When I saw her being cleaned up and kicking all over and screaming, I knew she was my Emma. It was that quick, I didn't even hold her yet and I knew. She nursed really good right away so that went smooth in recovery. That was the other thing I was really nervous about, but ended up fine so far. What was so cool is Erica was born at 2:51 pm, and weighed 7lbs 14 oz and Emma was born at 2:52 and was 7lbs and 14oz, and both were breech, what are the odds of that?

Friday night and Saturday flew by with visitors and nurses and doctors and pediatricians...Saturday Emma and I watched the Red Wings...and she slept almost 4 hours in a row that night. It was a nice surprise. (thanks Kelly for telling me to let the nursery take over Saturday) Sunday Emma got her picture taken by the hospital photographer. All I can say is WOW, what a difference from 12 years ago with Erica. The pics are so beautiful, but so expensive. Erica finally gets to hold her on Sunday and her and Dad let me take a nap by being on Emma duty.

Monday we got to come home, but Emma lost almost 10% of her weight and was a little bit jaundice so paperwork and appointments to take care of those took a bit of time. Today we went to the Doctors, and was surprised to find out the wrong Peds office was visiting Emma all weekend. So we had more paperwork and had to explain all the concerns from the doc at the hospital...what a pain. and then had to get blood taken. poor baby.

So my Emma...she is so adorable, and just so sweet. She is such a litte kicker, and snuggler. She is eating almost every 2 hours, sometimes every 3. She isn't sleeping much time in a row, which is expected. She did gain 3 ounces in 24 hours when we took her to the doc today. He also told us to put her in a bouncy seat or car seat in the sun by the window to help with the jaundice. We moved her bassinet into the sun stripped her down to her diaper and that's were she took her nap. She was loving the sun, I tell you. she had her hands above her head and all stretched out, it was so cute. sooo we need to take again tomorrow for another test. So much for staying home the first week. geeeez!

here are some of my favorite pics so far.

I LOVE the pictures...especially the header of the blog! How awesome. Nicholas had jaundice really bad and we had to keep going for the blood tests. Bilirubin! He actually had to go back to the hospital for 3 extra days under the phototherapy light. It will get better.
