With the 2 book clubs I am in now, I am so happy to be reading on a regular basis again. I have always loved to read and when I was little carried around Charlotte's Web for years. That was my first BIG book, and I remember I started it in 4th grade, because that was the year my Grandma died and I remember having it with me in the car at the funeral.
From there I was hooked on series books. A favorite being Encyclopedia Brown, Kid detective. One reason I picked these books to read as a kid was I learned how to spell the word Encyclopedia, from one of my teachers...and I thought it was so cool the kid's nickname was Encyclopedia, and that I could spell such a huge word! These books were so fun to read, there are multiple short stories in each paperback, describing a case for the young detective. At the end of each case, you had a chance to figure out what happened and how the case was solved.
From there, in middle school, I read the Sweet Valley high series. I had every single one, and read them all. I liked that they continued on for years as they grew. In High School, the Outsiders was one of my favorites, and then I started reading some sappy love stories.
Nora Roberts became one of my favorite Authors and I read mostly just her books through my 20's. Her books had some balance and it wasn't just your regular love story. She has Series books, trilogies and single story books. She doesn't stick to a certain formula, and there are always surprises. When I tired of her books about sisters, lovers and friends, I moved on to her twisted set of books she wrote as Author J.D. ROBB. These books have Love, Crime, and are a little sick and twisted, and they kept me thinking.
I also like to read True Crime books once in a while, though I can only take a certain amount of real life horror stories. It just amazes me sometimes how seemingly normal people can snap and do horrific things.
The book clubs are good for me since I don't go out and seek books to read. If someone tells me they liked a book, I would most likely go get it at the library and read it. So having 2 books to read monthly is fantastic. Plus it gets me out of the rut of sticking with the same authors, and same style of books.
GirlFromTheGhetto told me she LOVES the Author Augusten Burroughs, and Running with Scissors is one of her favorites. So I checked it out and am excited to start that book this week as I finish my book club1 book:)
I just can't get enough reading these days, I love visiting the library on a regular basis, curling up with a good book and throwing myself into a new story.
What are some of your favorite books? book types? and Authors? I'd love to know!

Oh, I am so happy uou are reading this book. Then you have to see the movie, too.
When you are finished with it, read Augusten's Best Friends books. Her name is Haven Kimmel, and start off with A Girl Named Zippy. You'll love it, too.
By the way, I loved The Changeling, although it really bothered me.
I love Augusten Burroughs and Haven Kimmel both!!! Another author that I LOVE LOVE LOVE is David Sedaris. He writes short stories mostly but my favorite book he wrote is his memoir called "Naked" Its even funnier if you can get it on CD and listen to it in your car during a long drive. Him and his sister read it and their voices are hilarious!
Growing up I was a huge fan of the "Anne of Green Gables" series by LM Montgomery, I'm pretty sure I read all of them and would beg my parents the take me on vacation to Prince Edward Island! When I was a little bit older you wouldn't find me without a True Crime book in my hand. Fascinating stuff! I'm SO glad you're enjoying book club as much as I am :)
