Hey Mr. President...

So the Race is over and we have a new President-elect:) I, and 52% of the nation are happily excited for this new change in the White House. During this whole process, it amazed me how many junk emails I got bashing my presidential choice. On how many un-informed/uneducated people would just say, I'm not voting for him, he is Muslim, or Black, or Pro-choice, or doesn't like people in uniform. Its amazing to me that someone would not vote for him merely on the color of his skin. Don't get me wrong, I know there is racism out there, but geez, have you heard the man speak? do you know anything about his character, and morals? He is motivating and gets people involved and thinking and doing! It is great to be part of our country's history! This is like my generations JFK...this man can make a difference, and he has more than half the country believing in him to do so.
Justin voted for the first time this year. He said way back when Oprah announced her support for Obama that he was going to win this thing, and he was right. I don't think he believed it at the time, he was half joking saying if Oprah says something, it gets done, and people listen.

Things about this election that just blew my mind...
  • 14 million voters more then the 2004 election
  • The long lines of people voting we saw on TV
  • How quickly it was called...it went by so fast!
  • The amount of electoral votes Obama gained so quickly.
  • Obama's acceptance speech....it gave me chills!
  • Sarah Palin being chosen for Republican VP...I think some one should be smarter than the "Average Joe" " hockey Mom" to be appointed to such a high political position. I didn't want some Average person potentially running this country.
  • Cindy McCain spending $300,000 on her outfit for the Republican convention...that is just ridiculous. You can buy 4 or 5 houses for that price around here now a days!
  • McCain and Palin spending so much time on Saturday Night Live...I don't think it helped them to make fun of themselves.
  • Times when both candidates stood up for each other and showed some class, for McCain it was when an audience member called Obama an Arab and he took the microphone from her, Obama when he was asked about Palins Daughters Pregnancy and he said, "My Mom was 18 when she had me, and Family is off limits to this campaign"
  • This was the first Internet/text campaign, I LOVED being updated via email through Obama's campaign on things going on.
  • The feeling of unity Obama has brought to this country, its something we saw when 9/11 happened, people were nicer to one another...we need to keep that going.
  • Taking my daughter with me to the polls so she was part of this history, I know its something she will remember for the rest of her life.
I am excited to see what can be done in the next 4 years. I know its not going to be overnight, I know he isn't going to wave a magical wand and everything will be OK. I do know that he will make a difference in this country, and I can't wait to see it! just in case you missed his acceptance speech...its truly inspiring! (click on the text on the bottom when it comes up to go to the next video of the speech)

I was so excited when he didn't fault Palin for her daughter getting knocked up ... so classy. Ah ha ha ... we won, I'm so excited!

I agree with you 100%!

I found while on my way home from watching my first nephew be born, which was amazing in it's own right. I stopped to get gas and saw a bunch of fireworks going off and I heard a lot of screaming. I figured that the winner had been announced, but didn't know who it was until a guy behind me in the gas station said it to his friend on the phone. I was so excited! I got into my car and left. As I was entering 23, I heard screaming and looked to side of me and saw a car full of young men screaming and smiling, they were screaming, "OBAMA!" I figured that they saw my bumper stickers and yelled with them. I have never seen such a reaction or display of emotion over an election.

I have never felt this hopeful about the fate of our country, I truly believe that he will accomplish some truly wonderful things.

I am hopeful that things will change. I knew whoever was to be elected would have a full plate for sure. The only thing that bothers me is that people vote or don't vote depending on race. It works both ways....you have some people who will not have voted for Obama becuase of his race.....but you have some who will vote for him based only on his race. It is a double edged sword...hopefully everyone voted for who they thought had the best ideas for this country! Good luck Obama...we all need your your good ideas and "change"...that's for sure!
